Prevalence of ovine fasciolosis and its associated risk factors: The case of in and around Bedele Town, Bunno Bedele Zone, Oromia Region, Ethiopia

Background: Ethiopia is rich in sheep and goats, accounting for 63% of the income from financial production 23% cost food. However, this immense wealth potential has not been well exploited support farmers their contribution to economy as a whole due various factors such diseases. Among these, fascioliasis one most economically important parasitic diseases farm animals, especially sheep. Objectives: To determine prevalence risk associated with ovine fasciolosis study area. Methods: A cross-sectional design was conducted four randomly selected peasant associations around Bedele town by using standard fecal sedimentation techniques. Results: Out total 384 faecal samples processed examined, 85 (22.1%) were positive fasciolosis. Risk origin, age, sex, body condition also assessed occurrence disease. Accordingly; Shebe (26.4%) had higher fasciolosis, followed Yabella (22.5%), Dabena Daru (20.8%), 02 (17.5%) no significant differences (p > 0.05). The rate under different scores recorded poor (38.6%) compared medium (22.3%), good (16.3%). Similarly, infection found be among female (23%) male (21%) sex groups; but statistically association < Conclusion Recommendations: Current research suggests that affecting common disease area, so control strategies should developed reduce spread infection.
